Aaron Rodgers Retirement and Next Team Odds

A miserable 2024 season has come to an end for Aaron Rodgers and the New York Jets.

Speculation will run rampant over the next several weeks regarding his future, and the betting markets are ready for it.

Rodgers’ odds to retire this offseason have been released, and he is now a betting favorite to hang them up at -140 odds. A decision to keep playing in 2025 is the slight underdog at +100, as the oddsmakers believe this could go either way.

Ex-Jets Pro Bowler Jonathan Vilma believes retirement is the correct move, as Rodgers is a shell of his former self.

“I want to remember Aaron Rodgers when I went against him as one of the best quarterbacks ever to play the game,” Vilma told Sports Lens. “I just remember staying up late at night, shaking my head because you can’t stop him. You can slow him down. You can hope he would have an off day, but you couldn’t stop him. …  So that’s how I want to remember him. I don’t want to remember him as this guy who doesn’t look like himself.”

If Rodgers keeps playing and leaves the Jets, where will he end up? The Las Vegas Raiders are currently in quarterback purgatory and have been listed as the favorites, followed by the Pittsburgh Steelers.

The San Francisco 49ers have the third-best odds, and that would certainly raise some eyebrows. The vast majority of analysts believe Brock Purdy will land a lucrative long-term extension this offseason.
