The oddsmakers firmly believe Juan Soto will be playing in the Big Apple next season, but the favored team has switched.

The New York Mets have leapfrogged the Yankees as the team most likely to sign the slugger for 2025 and beyond, which would add tremendous thump to the middle of their lineup.

The Mets are now the odds-on favorites at -125, while the Yankees come in as slight underdogs at +110, as of November 26th.

While it’s still a tight race, the thinking by the oddsmakers has shifted after many believed Soto would re-sign with the Yankees.

Mets owner Steve Cohen is a billionaire many times over, and it would not be a surprise to see him open up his wallet to land the biggest fish in free agency.

Soto has reportedly been given lucrative contract offers from five different teams, and that is reflected in the odds.

The Dodgers would certainly be an interesting destination after they landed Shohei Ohtani last offseason, but the oddsmakers believe one of the New York clubs is the more likely destination.

Soto’s former teams, the Nationals and Padres, are on the list for a potential reunion, but both are considered longshots.

Soto batted .288 with 41 homers, 109 RBIs and an OPS of .989 last season for the Yankees, finishing third in MVP voting. He just turned 26 years old and should be a difference-making piece for years to come.
